„Words for sex come in three categories. In the first category are those words that are used in biology books and that adults use when they talk to children about it. Words like “intercourse” and “coitus” for example. Words that make you think: This is definitely not a fun thing.
In the second category there are words like fuck, hump, screw, ram, bang, nail, lay and so on. Words that make you think of a hardware store and of sweat. In any case, words that make you grit your teeth to persevere.
In the third category are the soft words, the cuddly ones that let everything appear pink and harmless. Something like: Making love. Spending the night together.
And if you’ve never done it so far, you look at all this and think to yourself: HOW THE FUCK CAN ALL THESE WORDS DESCRIBE ONE AND THE SAME THING?“
Everything teenagers (and not just them) always wanted to know about sex (and the first time) but were afraid to ask.
Eva Rottmann manages to write authentically, very humorously, and at the same time sensitively about being in love and wanting to be in love, about having sex (the first time) and wanting to have it. The protagonists and their dreams are diverse and suggest that it’s a broad field. It’s not a sex educational book, but YA fiction at its best, giving its readers more aha-experiences than any educational book could ever manage.
„Rottmann has created such an important book here, one that shows that not everything has to be perfect when it comes to sex and that everyone thinks and feels differently about it. In my opinion, a must-read for anyone starting to take an interest in this topic.“
—S. Schmidt, Buchhandlung Osiander
„Rottmann succeeds in taking adult readers into the great desires and insecurities of teenage love by combining the right situations with the right language. […] Fucking Fucking Good should not be missing from any (school) library.“
